Dubai / January 21, 2026 – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 fixtures will proceed as originally scheduled. The board decision came after reviewing concerns raised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about playing matches in India.

In a video-conference meeting held on January 21, the ICC Board rejected the request to move Bangladesh’s group-stage matches to Sri Lanka. Officials said independent security reviews showed no credible threat to players, officials, media, or fans at the Indian venues.

The ICC also said changing the schedule now could create logistical challenges and set a difficult precedent for future events. The council emphasized that its decisions are based on detailed threat assessments and host guarantees.

ICC representatives added that they engaged in multiple discussions with the BCB to try and resolve the issue. However, the Bangladesh board maintained its position, linking participation to unrelated matters, the ICC statement said.

With the schedule upheld, all teams, including Bangladesh, are expected to play at the venues originally assigned in India and Sri Lanka when the tournament begins on February 7, 2026.

Cricket fans worldwide welcomed the clarity after weeks of uncertainty. Organizers now aim to shift focus fully to preparations for one of the sport’s biggest events.
